2021 VJBL 1st Team Coaches Announced
It is with great pleasure we announce the first team coaches for the 2021 Junior Representative Teams!
12.1 Boys – Seb Melhem
Seb taking on the U12s again in 2021 is a critical part to developing our next up and coming players and providing them with a strong base to start and prosper in their playing journeys. Having already had a big impact in 2019/20, Seb looks to continue this into 2021!
12.1 Girls – Kelly Read
Leading the U12 Girls into 2021, Kelly Read is an excellent appointment to focus on and build our girls involvement in basketball from U12s and up! Kelly also leads the Sorrento Basketball Club which has seen exceptional growth in recent times, developing basketball in the region!
14.1 Boys – Scott Ramsey
After leading the way with our U14 Boys Program in 2020, Scott Ramsey will again developing this age group. Scott is also heavily involved in the Victoria Country Pathway and is the Basketball Victoria Regional Academy Head Coach for our region.
14.1 Girls – Andrew Hack
Andrew is a strong player development coach, having coached U12 Girls in 2019/20 is now taking on the U14.1 Girls to further develop our pathway of players and coaches. Hacky has also recently been appointed to coach the Sale U16 Girls team which are currently ranked 3rd in Australia!
16.1 Boys – Ross Gilbert
Ross comes into the U16 Boys 1st team position after working with the U14s age group at Southern Peninsula last year. Ross’ numerous years of experience and skill to lead this age group into the 2021 season will continue to help guide our pathways through Southern Peninsula.
16.1 Girls – Nathan Marsh
Nathan joins the Shark Tank as our recently appointed Senior Women’s Head Coach. Nathan’s vast playing and coaching background brings a key piece to our junior girls program. Nathan being involved within the junior and senior program continues to build retention and pathways between our junior and senior programs.
18.1 Boys – Ben White
Following on from last season coaching 16.1 Boys who qualified for VC, Ben steps into the role of leading the U18 Boys. Ben is involved in a number of aspects from part of the Country Victoria State Program to having been involved with our Big V program for the past four years.
18.1 Girls – Stuart Dempster
Returning to club after recently coaching at Chelsea Basketball Association is Stuart Dempster. Stuart will be heavily involved in the development and growth of our female playing pathways having a large amount of experience in doing so recently is really going to assist our up and coming athletes.
21.1 Men – Ron Ryer
After coaching the U18.1 Boys in 2019/20, Ron takes on the U21 Men leading the way through not only his coaching experience, but also his many years playing for Southern Peninsula at the Senior Level! Having Ron onboard to deliver these opportunities for growth is fantastic for the continual growth of the program.
2nd and 3rd team coaches will be announced after tryouts.
